Schoolgirl Sophie Lu (& the most beautiful refrigerator in the world)!

Sophie Lu started school in October! I had just decided to keep Sophie Lu home this year when he was lucky enough to get a spot a wonderful preschool (there is normally a 15 month + waiting list); and knowing her outgoing & very social personality, we decided to go for it! Let's just say it was one of the best decisions we have ever made! She goes to school two mornings a week for 3 1/2 hours. The above photo was taken on her first day of school- she was SO excited. I, oh the other hand, was a wreck! We had visited the school a few times, Sophie had gotten to know the teacher and a couple of other kids, etc., but I was so worried that she would cry or not want me to leave her. So, I had it all planned that I would just volunteer in her classroom until she was comfortable, but she did GREAT! I walked her in, the teacher quickly engaged her, and I gave her a hug and a kiss. "Mommy's going to come back a little later to get you. Okay, Sophie Lu?" "Okay, Mommy! I'm going to have fun! I love you. Bye bye!" And that was it! Then the crying started... MY crying! (Not in front of her of course). I stayed in the school lobby the entire time that day, and the receptionists comforted me and kept me company! Then, finally at 12:15, I went back to find Sophie. I saw her before she saw me, so I watched her for a while. She was finishing her lunch and chatting with some other kids. She was having fun, and I was so proud. And the second she saw me, her face lit up with the biggest smile I've ever seen, "MOMMY!!! You're here!" She ran into my arms and hugged me for the longest time. She has done this same thing every school day since. I don't know about her, but 12:15 is my favorite part of Sophie Lu's school day!
This is Sophie's beloved Hello Kitty backpack! She wears it and says, "I'm a schoolgirl!"

This is the very first art project Sophie brought home. When she handed it to me I cried (of course)! I think it's the most wonderful "pumpkin face" (as she calls it) I've ever seen!

And THIS is the most beautiful refrigerator in the world! I've waited so long to have a refrigerator like this- full of my daughter's beautiful artwork from school. Each piece she gives me is such a treasure- just like she is~ :)

Just a few things...

After we got home from the pumpkin patch, Mommy played in the grass with me while Ollie was napping. We had a lot of fun! Oh, I almost forgot to introduce you to someone...

This is Mr. Leafy. My Mommy helped me plant a lima bean a few weeks ago. I planted him in some soil, watered him, put him in the sunshine, and gave him some love. How do you love a lima bean, you ask? You sing to him! I sang him a song I made up to the tune of a classical piece I learned on Little Einsteins (I love classical music). The song goes like this: "You're my bean sprout... I loooooove you!" I waited a long long time to see Mr. Leafy sprout, but he finally did! I was so excited! And just look at him now- he is growing big and strong!

And while we're at it, I'll show you Mr. Pinata too. I got him at a Mexican restaurant and decided to hang him from this tree. My Mommy thought it was funny when I took my Hello Kitty bat to try to knock some candy out of him!

Oh, one more thing. I want everyone to know how much I love my glasses. The first thing I do every morning is ask my Mommy for them. I can see the world so clearly now, and I love what I see! Also, I think I look very smashing in them! Here are some pictures of all of my smiles (my Mommy and Daddy just love alllll of my smiles)!

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mommy and Daddy love my laugh too! :)

Sophie's "Baby Pumpkin"

Is he handsome or what? Baby Pumpkin is one of the sweetest cats I've ever known... he is loving and very gentle with children. He absolutely adores Sophie- he follows her everywhere and even sleeps on her pillow! But what happened shortly after I took this picture truly amazed me... he hopped into the bathtub with Sophie Lu! He usually dips his paw in and bats at the bubbles, but this time he actually slid on down into the water and started wading around! I've never seen a cat so comfortable with water. Of course, I took him out right away (no time to take a photo- I didn't want to risk him scrathing her), but Sophie and I really got a laugh out of it! Funny kitty!

Angel Princess by Night

This is our Sophie's 3rd year (I can't believe it) spending Halloween with Grace and Holden! They really got a kick out of baby Octopus Ollie, too!

And here is our Baby Octopus and our Angel Princess all ready to go trick-or-treat. Unfortunately, the very first house we went to had some scary ghost decorations outside that sent Sophie Lu screaming back to us- crying and begging to go home! So we went straight home- and as long as there weren't any trick-or-treaters in ghost costumes, Sophie Lu handed out the candy! :)

Apple Princess by Day!

When I asked Sophie Lu what she wanted to be for Halloween, she told me that she wanted to be an "Apple Princess"! Sophie Lu loves apples (or "bopples" as she used to call them)... she loves apple juice, apple sauce, apple slices, and apple pie; so I can understand why she would want to be something apple related. Not quite sure what an Apple Princess was, though, so I asked her. She replied, "It's an apple. It's a princess. It's an Apple Princess, Mama!!!" Huh! I should have known! Anyway, this is what we came up with! :)

I know I post a lot of photos of Sophie Lu in her costumes, but she has so many smiles- and they are all so beautiful. I just can never bring myself to choose just a few!

Here is Sophie Lu with her friend Alexander from school. I am still way behind, but I'll be posting about her school soon. Anyway, I think Sophie Lu may have a little crush on Alexander- she kisses his photo!!!

Sophie Lu only goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but her teacher was sweet enough to invite her to the Halloween party and parade! Here is her class- they were all so cute!

Sophie has recently developed a terrible fear of ghosts. When she first saw this little boy in his ghost costume, she screamed and ran to me for comfort. But then the teacher asked him to take off his mask to show Sophie who he was. She smiled and exclaimed, "Oh, Mathew!!!"

This photo cracks me up!

Lana & Sophie Lu!

Here is Sophie with her teacher, Miss Minerva. Sophie calls her "Miss Ninerva"!

Sweet parading little princesses! We had a great Halloween Day. Of course, since this was Sophie's first Halloween parade, I got a little emotional and cried (thank goodness for sunglasses)! Halloween night photos coming soon!
