Chef Sophie Lu's Screen Test

I know I am way behind on the "Cooking with Sophie Lu" project... but I am finally starting to catch up! Here is video footage of the "Screen Test" from way back in October... As you can see, I learned a few important things about producing Sophie's Cooking Show:

1. Never use tomatoes as your first ingredient.
2. Video is shaky when the camera-mommy can't stop laughing.
3. Sophie Lu is more of a comedian than a chef!

Anyway, we were attempting to make Bowties w/ Pesto, Feta & Cherry Tomatoes. We will shoot the real episode soon & then I'll post the whole recipe. Also, her Pilot Episode (Pizza) is coming soon. :)

I just can't believe how fast Sophie Lu is growing up! She's getting soooo big... She now weighs 34 pounds, is 38 inches tall, and wears size 8 shoes! But, of course, she is still my sweet little baby girl (and she always will be)!

Socks-Boots: A Fashion Must-have!

That's right, Sophie Lu's latest trend is what she proudly calls "Socks-Boots"! One day, she insisted on pulling her socks all the way up; but when I said, "Nice socks, Sophie Lu", she sternly corrected me... "Not socks, Mommy! SOCKS-BOOTS!!!"

See these Easter cookies? I helped Mommy bake and decorate them! It was a crazy day in our kitchen- so much so that Mommy's hands were too messy to take photos! But here they are (well some of them), and oh are they yummy!

p.s. Yes, I did get messy! I had frosting and sprinkles all over- even in my hair! :)

Oh my goodness, Mommy.... there he is! And he's cuter than EVER!!!!

Sassy Lu!

Yes, Sophie Lu is smiley and sweet, but lately, she has really been starting to show her sassy side! Our experience at the mall today is a great example...

The first part of our day was wonderful! Sophie Lu and I spent some time with the Easter Bunny and then we had a very peaceful lunch together. But then, we stumbled upon the play area- yes the same type of play area that MaryMia and Donna have recently described on their blogs. And after reading about their experiences there, I really should have known better... but as soon as Sophie Lu saw all the fun, there was no stopping her. So I sat down on the padded bench and watched her go hog-wild playing with all the other kids and running around from climby thing to climby thing. Then she found this ice-cream truck and started serving pretend ice-cream to all the older kids. She even charged them pretend coins and carefully counted their "money". She was so cute and was having so much fun, but after an hour and a half, I decided that it was time to go. Sophie Lu didn't agree. Here is how our conversation went:

Mommy (me): Come on, Sophie Lu. It's time to go home now.

Sophie Lu: NO.

Mommy: You can't say "No" to Mommy... what are you supposed to say? (hoping for her usual "Yes, Mommy")

Sophie Lu: NO, THANK YOU.

Mommy: (trying to conceal my giggle) Sophie Lu, you may play for FIVE more minutes.

Sophie Lu: No, Mommy... TEN more minutes! (showing me ten fingers)

Mommy: Hey, I'm the Mommy!

Sophie Lu: Hey, I'm the SOPHIE!

And that is when I choked on my lemonade. Mmm hmmm.... she's sweet. But she's sassy... definitely sassy. :)
