Mommy's Birthday Cake!!!

Yay! Mommy's birthday cake is almost finished!

It just needs one last pink rose- right in the center...

Tadaaaa!!! There... now, it is beautiful (if I don't say so myself)!
s

Look, Mei Mei... Mommy's birthday cake!

sNext year, I'll teach my new sister Isabella all about cake decorating!
s
Shhhh... while Mommy is taking a picture of her cake, I'm going to drink some sprinkles...

sBusted!

Happy Birthday, Dear Mama... Happy Birthday to you!

I Baked a Cake!

That's right, I baked Mommy's birthday cake (with just a little help from Mommy)! Today, my Mommy turned 34 (again)! Here we are ready to start baking in our pretty matching aprons!
s
Stirring the batter with a spoon was fun...
s
But nothing compared to the fun I had holding the electric mixer!
s
Yeehaw!s
k

You bet I snuck a lick when Mommy was busy pouring the vanilla...
s

But the best part was licking the mixers with Mommy!
l

I finished mine first, so then I grabbed Mommy's!

sItIt's hard to lick and stand at the same time...

a

Yay!!! The cake is ready for pink frosting!

aGee, I just don't know how frosting kept ending up on my thumb- but mmmmm....

s

Time for sprinkles! Mommy handed me a spoonful, so I put it straight into my mouth. How was I supposed to know it was meant for the cake?

So here we are, decorating Mommy's birthday cake! But you can't see our masterpiece just yet... the pictures are SO cute that Mommy is giving them a post of their own!

For my birthday...

Today is my birthday, and I plan to do something I've always dreamt of... bake a cake with my daughter! We are going to bake a pink birthday cake, and we're even going to wear matching aprons! I can't wait!!!

Here is a photo of my Mom baking with me when I was just a few months older than Sophie Lu. It's always been one of my very favortite photos and one of my warmest childhood memories. I hope I can capture my special day with Sophie so that she, too, will one day look forward to baking with her daughter...

Baby in her Bird Bath!

Sophie Lu got in her water table! Here she is just as happy as a little birdie in a bird bath!

See her little leggies- all scrunched up? (so cute!)

She tried to spray me & Daddy with her spray bottle!

And, then she watered her water...

and even tried to water herself!

Soon, she realized that her feet were starting to wrinkle...

Out, Mommy... Pleeeeeease!

We can never go to Starbuck's again! (PG-13)

Recently, something very embarrassing happened at Starbuck's. I'm sure everyone there thinks I must be an awful Mommy with a mouth like a truck-driver for my daughter to say what they think she said (actually, she repeatedly screamed it in excitement). I don't have video of the experience, but if you watch the clip below, you can imagine what happened when Sophie saw everyone holding their coffee cups...

(This is one of those videos I have really debated posting- but it's just too funny not to. Now, before I was a mom, I would have thought someone was terrible for thinking such a thing was cute and laughing at it as I do. But, I can't help it- everything Sophie does is just so adorable to me; and since she's still a baby, I guess I don't see the harm in laughing along. Soon, though- very soon, I will have to force myself to keep a staight face when things like this happen. That is going to be very hard for me!)

So, here it is... the reason we can't even walk by a Starbuck's anymore...

Sophie & Penelope!

Sophie and I went to the corner bakery last week for breakfast. While I was getting coffee, someone tapped me on the back and asked, "Is your daughter's name Sophie Lu? I recognize you from your blog!" Her name is Pati, and she has a beautiful 19 month old daughter named Penelope (we used the same agency)! We ended up having having breakfast together and made a play date for KidsSpace. Here are Penelope and Sophie Lu riding their trikes!
d
Penelope tried to take her helmet off, but Safety Officer Sophie Lu insisted that she wear it!
d
Look how tiny and cute Penelope is (Sophie calls her, "P"). This is right before Sophie tried to give Penelope a hug. I think Sophie scared her!
d
Sophie quickly retreated (isn't it cute the way they both have their hands together?).
d

Snack time!
d

The girls played so nicely together! They shared some chalk and had a great old time!
d

Then, the art table was ready. Sophie and Penelope made their masterpieces with golf balls and paint!

sBut they quickly realized that they had paint on their hands, and niether girl liked it very much!

Still, their finished products were beautiful!

a And a few days later, Sophie finally got that hug she wanted!
